Australian Open Membership Changes

AO Membership is gradually being phased out, and so we are not accepting new member applications or renewing existing memberships. If you have an active membership or an expired membership and would like further information regarding what this means for you, please read the Questions & Answers listed below.

Q: WHY IS THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM BEING DISCONTINUED?

The Australian Open now attracts in excess of 700,000 Guests throughout the Tournament, and continues to grow year on year. The demand for access to the event, for seats, and for spaces on site is therefore extremely high. There is more to see and do, more dining options and more tennis to watch than ever before, and Member feedback and usage of benefits certainly suggests the current model is not the model we should continue with.

HOW DOES THE PHASE OUT OF THE AO MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM AFFECT ME?
  1. Members with an expired AO Membership
    As the AO Membership Program is being phased out, we are not accepting membership renewals.
  2. Members with an active AO Membership
    If you are an active member and your AO Membership is yet to expire, we will continue to honour all of the AO Member benefits that you are entitled to, in accordance with the AO Membership Terms and Conditions, until your AO Membership expires (including if you are a current multi-year AO Member, unless we otherwise notify you of any changes at a later date).
    You will not be able to renew your AO Membership once it expires.
  3. Gap Year Members
    If you are currently an active AO Gap Year Member we will continue to honour all of the AO Gap Year Membership benefits that you are entitled to in accordance with the AO Membership Terms and Conditions until your AO Gap Year Membership expires.
    You will not be able to renew your AO Membership once your AO Gap Year Membership expires.
Q: WHERE CAN I FIND THE EXPIRY DATE OF MY AO MEMBERSHIP?

You can easily find the expiry date of your AO Membership in these locations:
at the bottom of any emails you have been sent from the AO Membership Team;

  1. printed on your AO Membership card;
  2. by logging in to your AO Membership account via the ‘Existing Members Login’ button on this page, or
  3. by calling or emailing the Australian Open Membership Team to request your number.
Q: HOW DOES THE EXPIRY DATE OF MY AO MEMBERSHIP AFFECT MY AO MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS?

If you are still a current AO Member, please take note of when your AO Membership will expire. As has always been the case with your AO Membership, the expiry date of your AO Membership determines the AO Member benefits that you are entitled to at a given point in time. In order to access certain AO Member benefits, such as pre-sale access and event benefits, your AO Membership must be active when the particular AO Member benefit is offered.

  • For example in connection with the Australian Open 2017, subject to the AO Membership Terms and Conditions and your relevant AO Membership category:
  • Game, Set, and Match pre-sale access will be advised via email and on the Australian Open website closer to the Australian Open 2017.

If your AO Membership will be active on or after 1 January 2017, depending on your membership category, you will also be entitled to the prescribed number of complimentary ground passes, a complimentary program and Game Set Match Lounge access (together with one guest pass) in 2017.

Q: I’M A CURRENT (ACTIVE) AO MEMBER:
  1. Will I still get access to the Australian Open ticket pre-sale?
    Depending on the expiry date and your AO Membership category, we will continue to honour the AO Membership benefits that you are entitled to, including in relation to the pre-sale of tickets to the next Australian Open for your relevant AO Membership category.
    If your AO Membership is still active at the applicable time, consistent with past years, AO Members will continue to have access to purchase a prescribed number of tickets to the Australian Open during the designated pre-sale period set by Tennis Australia for your relevant AO Membership category, in accordance with the AO Membership Terms and Conditions.
  2. Will there still be a Game Set Match Lounge during the Australian Open?
    Depending on the expiry date and your AO Membership category, for those who still have an active AO Membership during the month of January for the next Australian Open, Tennis Australia will continue to provide a Game Set Match Lounge facility in accordance with the AO Membership Terms and Conditions. The location of the Game Set Match Lounge for the Australian Open 2017 will be advised closer to the date of the tournament.
    As usual, access to the Game Set Match Lounge is subject to capacity. For the comfort and safety of AO Members, once capacity is reached access will be restricted on a ‘one-out, one-in’ basis.
  3. Will I still receive my complimentary ground passes and program?
    Depending on the expiry date and your AO Membership category, the prescribed number of complimentary ground passes to the next Australian Open and one complimentary Australian Open program will be issued to active AO Members at the relevant time in accordance with the AO Membership Terms and Conditions.
Q: CAN I ON-SELL MY TICKETS TO THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN OR OTHER AUSTRALIAN OPEN SERIES EVENTS?

No, this is prohibited.

Q: HOW DO I LOG-IN TO MY AO MEMBERSHIP ACCOUNT?

AO Members can continue to access their AO Membership account in the same way. The AO Membership log-in button is accessible via the Membership page on the AO website.
